Singer Laura Jane Butler is playing a special show next week to mark 10 years since the award-winning artist released her critically acclaimed second album.

The singer – who is the only tribute act to have received an endorsement from the late star’s parents – will be playing all of Winehouse’s most-loved hits, including Rehab, Valerie, Love Is a Losing Game and Tears Dry on Their Own at the Lodge Avenue venue.

“I’m keeping her spirit and legacy alive, as I’m a passionate fan of Amy’s,” Laura explained. “My mission is to just keep her music alive.”

Laura has been performing as Winehouse for almost a decade and has helped fundraise for the foundation set up following the star’s death in 2011.

“I started raising little bits to help and ended up becoming friends with Mitch and Janis [Winehouse’s parents],” she explained. “I even invited them to our wedding and they came along.”

Becoming an Amy Winehouse tribute act has enabled Laura to travel the world – but her charity work remains her priority.

“My passion over the last five years has been raising money for the Amy Winehouse Foundation,” she said.

“Once a year we do a big outside show to raise money for the charity, which is great fun.”

Laura used to perform in plays at school but it wasn’t until later in life when she moved to Tenerife that she discovered her love for singing.

When she returned home, she played in four bands before finding her feet as a Winehouse tribute artist.

“Everyone used to say I looked like Amy and I really liked her music, but it wasn’t until I was watching Jools Holland that I thought ‘I actually do’,” she remembered.

The Amy Winehouse tribute show starts at 7.30pm on Saturday next week. Tickets cost £10. Visit to book.
