A bus driver has been shortlisted for a prestigious award after conducting himself impeccably.
Richard Pincombe admitted that he was delighted to make the cut in the London shortlist of the UK Bus Awards.
“It was a shock more than anything,” said the 46-year-old, who is based at Arriva’s Barking garage in Ripple Road.
One of just eight across the capital to be selected for the top bus driver category, the Romford resident is known for his cheery manner on board.
“My job’s fantastic, I love it,” he enthused.
The dad-of-two enjoys greeting passengers on his 150 route – and is always grateful when it’s reciprocated.
“I like the regular passengers, and it’s great to get thanked for just doing your job,” he said.
Richard – who has also been working with TfL to provide voiceovers for on-board announcements – will attend a ceremony at London’s Southbank Centre on November 23 to find out if he’s a winner.
But he added: “It doesn’t matter whether I win or not, it’s just great to get through.”
