An 11-year-old girl underwent emergency surgery after stepping off a bus and colliding with a car in Barking.
During the incident, which happened in Movers Lane at around 2.30pm yesterday, the Ford Ka ran over her leg.
The girl was taken by ambulance to Royal London Hospital where doctors were scheduled to carry out surgery on her leg last night.
Her injuries were described as non life-threatening and non life-changing.
Movers Lane was closed at the A13 from 2.30pm until 5.11pm.
Police are looking into the circumstances of the incident. No arrests have been made.
