Prospective students enjoyed exploring a “new kind of university” ahead of its launch later this year.

Coventry University hosted Saturday’s open event at Dagenham Civic Centre, where its second London branch will launch in September.

The new campus in Rainham Road North will offer Saturday classes for those working during the week, lower entry requirements and cost £6,000 a year compared to £9,000 at most other universities. Foundation years and vocational learning will also be on offer.

Coordinator Sandra Baerens said they were “very much looking forward” to opening their doors.

“It was a success, with lots of local visitors coming in to find out about our courses and how our flexible studies fit around their busy lifestyles,” she said.

“It was great speaking to everyone and seeing such an interest in what we offer.”
