A man has been charged after a young woman was sexually assaulted near a railway footbridge in Dagenham.

Adef Hamid, of no fixed abode, was arrested on Friday in connection to the attack on the 18-year-old woman on the bridge near Pondfield Park.

The 26-year-old was charged the following day with sexual assault, robbery and possession of a Class B drug.

Hamid was remanded in custody to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, October 1.
