Police are hunting a driver who fled an overturned vehicle on the A13, leaving their passengers inside.

Emergency services were called to the Alfreds Way section of the road, between Beckton and Barking, shortly before 10am today.

The passengers were uninjured and the driver had already made off on foot.

No arrests have been made, with enquiries ongoing to trace the driver.

One lane of the A13 remains closed eastbound past the Beckton roundabout junction.
