A 19-year-old who has been charged with the murder of Ricky Hayden will appear at the Old Bailey next week.

Tommy Roome, of Rams Grove, Romford, confirmed his name and address when he appeared in the dock at Barkingside magistrates’ court this morning.

He was charged with the murder of 27-year-old Ricky and the attempted murder of his dad Paul, 54, who were attacked outside their home in Gibbfield Close, Chadwell Heath, in the early hours of Tuesday last week.

It is alleged that they had confronted a gang of up to four men who were attempting to steal a moped.

Mr Roome was remanded in custody ahead of the hearing at the Old Bailey on Monday.
