As part of Total Victim Crime, the officers listened to victims’ concerns and made note of what steps need to be taken.

Barking and Dagenham’s Supt Gary Buttercase, Ch Insp Rob Bills and Ch Insp Richard Goodwin were among those who visited the homes of residents who have been victims of crime.

Forty-two visits were made in total.

‘Feedback’

Supt Buttercase said: “All of the feedback gained in this exercise was valuable. Some of the visits were inspiring.

“I will action all of the areas for improvement that have been indicated by this initiative and will make sure that those officers who are doing an exceptional job are aware that they are appreciated.”

Met Police Commander Steve Watson, who led the operation, said: “Total Victim Care is about putting victims at the forefront of everything the Metropolitan Police Service do and continuing to improve the service we provide.”
