A RUMOUR that murdered Hatfield man Darren Leonard’s dog was also killed during the fatal stabbing which claimed his life has been refuted by police.
Social networks like Twitter and Facebook have been rife with speculation over the circumstances surrounding the 24-year-old Northfield man’s killing.
It was suggested his dog was killed, but police have now ruled that out.
But Hertfordshire Constabulary remained tight-lipped over other rumours, including that Mr Leonard was murdered in a revenge attack by an Albanian drug gang.
Asked about that particular suggestion a police spokesman told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: ““As this investigation is on-going, it would be inappropriate to comment on such matters at this time.”
The spokesman added the continuing hunt for Mr Leonard’s killer or killers “involves a significant amount of dedicated resources”.
Police are anxious to interview a man in relation to a number of offences including assault and robbery.
