Dagenham pupils are to become part of the Olympic legacy by learning IT with laptops that were used at the Olympic Park this summer.

The e-Learning Foundation will distribute the computers to Trinity special school in Heathway and Southwood primary in Keppel Road as part of an IT learning project in Olympic host boroughs this autumn.

The laptops, featuring Olympic logos, were used to manage the Games, record competition scores and give itineraries to athletes and information to the public and others assisted broadcasters and journalists.

“This is a really exciting opportunity for these schools to be part of the London 2012 legacy,” said foundation chief executive Valerie Thompson. “We are building the foundations of a sustainable programme.”

The computers will be refurbished before being handed out to the host borough schools.

An e-Learning Foundation spokesman said the schools were to make a financial contribution towards the Acer computers.
