Barking and Dagenham College has been shortlisted for a national award for the training it provides.

The annual Creative and Cultural Skills Awards, which are run by a charity who give careers guidance, celebrate individuals and organisations who champion excellence in the creative industries.

The college, which has 12,500 students, has been nominated for the Training Provider of the Year Award in recognition for its work enabling students to gain skills and opportunities to work in the creative industries.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Salford on April 16, with deputy leader of the Labour Party Tom Watson MP presenting the awards.

Pauline Tambling, chief executive at Creative and Cultural Skills, said: “The nominees have highlighted true dedication and passion for the creative industries and it makes me confident that the future of the industry is most definitely in safe and talented hands.”
