Lorin LaFave visited the college to share her 14-year-old son Breck Bednar’s tragic story with students.

Ms LaFave founded the Breck Foundation after Breck was murdered by 18-year-old Lewis Daynes who he met through online gaming.

Using Breck’s story, the Breck Foundation’s speakers travel the UK educating young people to keep safer online.

Ms LaFave campaigns for a safer internet and helps to train police, educators, health practitioners, safeguarding leads, parents and pupils to ensure that young people are able to make safer choices for themselves online.

The students described the session as ‘emotional’ and ‘eye opening’.

The activity was part of Safe College Week, an annual event organised by the college with lots of seminars and workshops organised on the topic of keeping safe.
