The former mayor raised almost £18,000 for his chosen charity during his tenure.

Cllr Simon Bremner, who held the role in 2015-16, organised a variety of events across the year in aid of the Sycamore Trust UK, raising £17,866.90 in total.

The charity, which is based in Dagenham, supports autistic adults and their families.

Cllr Bremner said: “They [Sycamore Trust UK] do fantastic work and they deserve every penny that was raised over the year. I hope the money will go some way in supporting local families.”

Organised events included a quiz night.
