Grieving parents gathered to mark Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.
Saturday’s event at Barking Town Hall was arranged by Emily Rodwell, who lost her son Logan in April after a late missed miscarriage.
The 26-year-old, who lives in Goresbrook Road, Dagenham, joined 30 other parents to light candles for lost children.
“One woman said how lovely it was to come and speak to other parents because she usually spends the day lighting candles on her own,” Emily said. “And my eight-year-old, Amelia, gave a speech saying she was there to represent Logan because he can’t be here.”
Emily’s dad, council leader Darren Rodwell, read a poem he wrote about Logan.
“It was very hard for him to read it,” Emily said. “There was a tear in everybody’s eyes.”
