Advice, support and neck massages were laid on for hundreds of people who wanted to learn more about mental health in Barking yesterday as part of World Mental Health Day.
An event was organised by Healthwatch Barking and Dagenham on Tuesday featuring a range of stalls offering services including employment advice and arts and crafts lessons.
The event, held at the Learning Centre, was a first for the organisation - but after more than 200 turned up they are considering a repeat next year.
“Mental health has always been an issue but the recognition has taken longer to come than with some other conditions,” said Healthwatch officer Richard Vann.
Felicity Smith, Healthwatch manager, said: “A lot of people showed up - we’re really pleased.”
There were stalls from the University of East London, Peaced Together and Bluebird Care.
