Approximately 1,000 people are expected to attend the funeral of killed bouncer Ricky Hayden later today.

Ricky, 27, was fatally stabbed outside his home in Gibbfield Close, Chadwell Heath, in the early hours of September 13 after confronting a group of men who were allegedly stealing a moped. His father, Paul Hayden, 54, was also injured in the incident.

A horse-drawn hearse will lead the funeral procession from Gibbfield Close, Romford, at 2.15pm en-route to Forest Park Crematorium, Forest Park Road, Ilford.

There will be a stop at a chicken and chips shop as this was Ricky’s “favourite meal” according to a Facebook page set up by Biker Escorts UK, which has listed details of the funeral escort.

The celebrity bodyguard’s favourite colour of orange will also be used extensively in the public commemoration and well-wishers are encouraged to wear an orange tie, scarf or nail varnish if they wish.

Attendees are requested not to hoot, rev their engines or carry out wheelies or burnouts so as not to scare the horses.

People who are unable to attend the funeral are encouraged to line Gibbfield Close and Rose Lane to release an orange balloon as the carriage passes.

Around 150 balloons will be released, however, those who wish to take part have been asked to bring their own.

Ricky was a Havering Council employee and, along with his father, had worked in security at ITV. He also worked as a doorman at Kosho bar, South Street, Romford.

Tommy Lee Roome, 19, of Rams Grove, Chadwell Heath has already been charged with Ricky’s murder and is currently remanded to appear at the Old Bailey.

Another 19-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and has been bailed to return on a date in early December pending further enquiries.

Two teenagers aged 19 and 16 were also arrested on suspicion of murder. The 19-year-old has been bailed until a date later in late January, while the 16-year-old is no longer a line of enquiry.
