More strikes are inevitable if a dispute over Olympic bonuses for bus workers is not sorted, Unite the Union’s general secretary has warned.

Len McCluskey was speaking at the Unite Policy Conference this morning.

His speech came after Friday’s London-wide bus strike which saw thousands of bus workers from companies across the capital hold a 24-hour walkout.

The dispute centres on bus workers demands for a £500 bonus for working during the London 2012 Games.

Describing the dispute, Mr McCluskey told conference this morning: “A straight forward dispute, about fairness, giving hard-working bus drivers the same bonus payment that has already been awarded to every other transport worker.

“And a fraction of the bonuses being paid to Transport for London bosses.

“I say this to Boris Johnson and the bus companies: sort it out now, or more strikes are inevitable.”
