»Replicas of London landmarks set to feature in the Olympic closing ceremony have been spotted at the rehearsal site in Dagenham.
The models, which include a 30ft London Eye, a Big Ben, St Paul’s Cathedral, and a Gherkin-building will provide a backdrop to the two hour spectacular on Sunday.
It is believed they were constructed over the past few weeks at the Dagenham Ford plant site, where Barking and Dagenham school pupils and hundreds of fellow performers rehearsed Danny Boyle’s extravagant opening ceremony.
Pupils from Dagenham Park, Jo Richardson and Barking Abbey secondaries, as well as William Ford Junior and Roding Primary, are now gearing up to take part in the closing ceremony.
They will be joined by legendary rockers The Who and 90s pop group Take That.
Teenagers were forced to flee from their beds after their family car erupted in flames which licked at the front of their home following a suspected arson attack.
