Photos, published in a national newspaper, show the Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Mel C, singing on top of four black cabs at the Ford plant.

Other singers seen rehearsing for the extravaganza on Sunday include George Michael, Jessie J, Annie Lennox, Tinie Tempah and Kate Bush.

Reports suggest One Direction, Kaiser Chiefs, Madness and Queen guitarist Brian May will also be performing on the day.

It is believed the lavish event will feature a scene depicting London at rush hour, with 300 people in cars, on scooters and on bicycles.

Russell Brand and Monty Python’s Eric Idle are set to add a good dash of British humour to the proceedings.

Dozens of pupils from the borough’s schools are also taking part. Among them are 30 boys from Jo Richardson Community School in Dagenham.

Assistant head Kala Boller said the students cannot wait to take part: “They are so excited,” she told the Post.

“And they’ve worked so hard for it - we’re all really proud of them.”

One of the pupils, Andrew Green, 12, added: “This is an opportunity of a life time which I’d never want to miss. I can’t wait to tell my grandchildren.”
