A sports charity which allocates grants to Olympic hopefuls is to thank its fundraisers at a bash on Friday night.
Leaving the Dream has collected more than £100,000 to pay for equipment, training camps and travel for rising sports stars in Barking and Dagenham since 2008.
More than £35,000 of grants have been allocated to 33 sportsmen and women in the east London borough including Dagenham judo sensation Haley Willis.
At least £50,000 is set to be given to Olympic hopefuls in future years.
Living the Dream secretary Teresa Parish said some of the budding sports stars would attend the “thank you” party at Dagenham & Redbridge FC in Victoria Road, Dagenham.
The event is not open to the general public but interested parties are urged to call Teresa on 020 592 1549.
Firefighters used a stretcher to remove a woman from a Dagenham flat piled high with clutter during a seven-hour rescue operation.
