An Olympic torch bearer is to take a ride on the miniature train inside Barking Park, it has emerged.
The relay is set to start in the Victorian park at the Ilford Lane entrance shortly before 10am on July 22, according to the Friends of Barking Park.
A torch bearer will carry the flame along the Lake inside the park for around 250 yards.
A bearer will then use the miniature railway, which is thought to date back to the Fifties.
The relay will continue inside the park torwards Barking Abbey School and emerge from the open space in Longbridge Road.
Tony Richards, 75, of the Friends of Barking Park, said: “The railway company feels very privileged to have been appointed to carry the torch.”
The relay will carry on into Lodge Avenue, Dagenham, and end at Central Park in Wood Lane where the 60th Dagenham Town Show will be held.
