Firefighters extinguised a pile of rubbish that was allegedly set alight in Barking this lunchtime.

One crew was called to the fire, outside Ladbrokes in East Street, at 11.50am and it was put out within 20 minutes.

A member of staff explained that the store has to leave its rubbish outside on Monday mornings for collection and claimed that somebody had thrown a lit cigarette onto it.
