Stratford choir sending sweet reggae songs to Barking ahead of Windrush anniversary show

Stratford singers send the sweet sounds of Jamaica to Barking next week for a charity show commemorating 70 years since the HMT Empire Windrush docked in Essex.

Reggae Choir, based in Carpenters and Docklands Centre in Gibbins Road, perform their summer show at the Broadway theatre with special guest Judi Love.

Founded in 2012, the group are a non-religious singer of residents of all ages, abilities and walks of life who have a shared passion for reggae music.

Folasade Phillips, choir founder, said: “Reggae Choir brings people together through their love of this genre, nostalgia and memories.

“That’s how our summer show at Barking Broadway Theatre on Thursday, July 5, called Sweet Reggae Memories came into being.”

Guests can bop, skank and sing their hearts out from 7.30pm, when doors open. Tickets £16 (concessions £13).
