Tomas Rosicky picked up an injury on international duty
Arsenal star Tomas Rosicky is set to miss the opening weeks of the new season after sustaining an injury while representing the Czech Republic at Euro 2012.
The playmaker signed a new contract with the Gunners last year but the injury on international duty will prevent him from starting the league campaign.
“It will be six to eight weeks until he is back in training,” manager Arsene Wenger said.
“It was his [plantaris tendon]. It was done at the Euros.”
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has played down suggestions he wants Rafael Benitez to be the club’s new head coach and claimed the delegation that visited England yesterday was hoping to secure an exchange deal with Manchester City for Edinson Cavani.
