Transfer news: Roberto Mancini thinks it is unlikely that the Dutchman will sign a new deal
Manchester United appear to lead the race for Arsenal star Robin van Persie after Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini suggested he was unlikely to sign the Dutchman.
The 29-year-old striker has told the Gunners that he does not want to sign a new deal with the club and the Manchester duo along with Serie A giants Juventus have been linked with him.
But the Italians suggested that Van Persie would cost too much and the Citizens boss believes it is unlikely that a deal will be done.
Mancini told Sky Sport Italia: “Van Persie? No, I don’t think he will come here.”
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has played down suggestions he wants Rafael Benitez to be the club’s new head coach and claimed the delegation that visited England yesterday was hoping to secure an exchange deal with Manchester City for Edinson Cavani.
