Tottenham new boy Jan Vertonghen has been named on the bench for their season-opener at Newcastle.
Sandro comes into the side but there is no place for Tom Huddlestone.
Tottenham: Friedel, Walker, Gallas, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto, Livermore, Sandro, Lennon, Sigurdsson, Bale, Defoe
Substitutes: Cudicini, Vertonghen, Naughton, Jenas, Townsend, Van der Vaart, Kane.
