Barking Road Runners’ Colin Jones set an outstanding personal best of 35.5 miles at the ultra Hillingdon Circuit Challenge.

Jones completed 19 laps of the 1.8-mile circuit to cover his longest ever distance at the gruelling event.

Faye Spooner ran her first marathon of 2018, at the East Hanningfield trail event, having completed 15 over the previous 12 months.

And Andrew Gwilliam was in action for Newham & Essex Beagles at the Met Cross-Country League race at Wormwood Scrubs, running just over five miles in 41.06.

Philip Ellul went sub-18 minutes for the first time at Barking parkrun, clocking 17.58, as Clare Foreman was first woman to finish at Raphael in 23.02.

Rory Burr (22.32), Barry Culling (26.07) and Jennifer Birch (33.08) were in action at Beckton, while Martin Page completed the Brentwood event in 23.55.

Various other members ran the Barking and Valentines parkruns.
