A group of 10 Dagenham 88 Runners travelled down to Dorset to compete in the Cider Frolic on Saturday.

The 12-hour relay race was held on one of the hottest days of the year, with England’s World Cup quarter-final clash against Sweden taking place in the middle of it!

And Gary Cardnell produced the fastest lap for Dagenham, ahead of next weekend’s Spitfire Scramble 24-hour event in Hornchurch.

Also taking part were Julie Cardnell, Leigh and Carol Moring, Lorraine Moor, Emma O’Shea, Timi and Sam Veerasamy, Caroline and Ian Cummins.

Dagenham’s Ryder Islam was second in the latest Barking & Dagenham junior parkrun at Central Park on Sunday in a personal best time of 7.58, just six seconds behind Emily Caton, who also set a new best.

Clubmate Evie Beazeley ran a new best of 13.29 and Amelia Beazeley (14.06) was also in action, as a total of 29 youngsters took part in the 2k event.
