Barking Road Runners were out in force over the past week at local as well as international events including the Amsterdam half marathon.

Some members ventured over to support, but a number were intent on doing their best in the 13.1 mile race.

Lee Johnson was the first Barking runner across the line in the event which started at the Stadionweg and finished at Olympic Stadium in a time of one hour, 21 minutes and 37 seconds.

Derv Bartlett wasn’t too far behind in 1.33.28, meanwhile, Ron Vialls (1.39.50) also managed to finish inside the one hour and 40 minute mark.

James Lowndes (1.42.37) and Andy Preston (1.43.23) were next home and Rob Antoine (2.04.52) enjoyed running past the city’s historic sites.

Kresh Veersamy (2.20.35), Richard Ash (2.29.02) and Robert Courtier (2.33.34) made the most of the fantastic atmosphere on the course too.

It was an enjoyable trip for all Barking runners including David George Mottley, Anthony Maughan and Mick Moohan who all went over to support.

Closer to home, four members were involved in the Harold Wood Charity five-mile run.

Micky Ball impressed in the Leigh-on-Sea 10km race finishing with 1.14.00 while Maxine Brown joined him, but found the strong winds tough.

Andy Horlock made his return to racing after 16 months with a 50.17 time in the Runners Wix 5 in Harwich.

Barking’s Cristian Cooper, Trevor Cooper, Diarmuid Mac Donnell and Wayne McAllister competed in the Olympic Park Duathlon Relay recently.

Club chairman Andrew Gwilliam jetted off to the States for his 99th park run in Crissy Field, San Francisco.

Gwilliam finished in a personal best time of 21.23, before celebrating with some donuts!
