New club for Barking & Dagenham residents

PUBLISHED: 14:00 13 November 2017

Local residents in Barking & Dagenham have set up a new running club for residents of the Leftley Estate and beyond.

Walk & Talk sessions have been taking place for the last six months around the edges of Mayesbrook Park on Saturday mornings and are free for everyone.

Organiser Zoinul Abidin said: “The turnout has been much better than expected. Apart from running it’s a great opportunity to catch up with and make new friends.

“It’s fine to walk a bit, jog a bit and chat if you like. It’s about helping participants to get started and get the community running again.”

A new Dads & Lads football session has also started on Sunday at 10.30am and there is no need for prior booking, with anyone interested urged to just turn up at the gates on The Drive.

For more information, organisers Mohammed Ali, Anwar Hussain and Zoinul Abidin can all be contacted via email at leftley.club@gmail.com.
