Dagenham’s Castle Green Leisure Centre has won December’s outstanding London sports venue award.

Run in conjunction with Jo Richardson Community School, it boasts an approved gym with a full suite of exercise machines and runs a range of classes for residents.

It has a modern sports hall and large dance studio, with a floodlit outdoor pitch for football and hockey, and the award, determined by MyLocalPitch users, was based on pitch quality, venue amenities and customer experience.

Centre manager Nadim Mea said: “We pride ourselves on having fantastic customer service and offering facilities to hire at competitive prices. We’re very much a community focused facility catering for all ages and backgrounds.”

Jamie Foale, co-founder of MyLocalPitch, added: “Castle Green Leisure Centre do a remarkable job and the venue is a worthy winner. The team strive to boost participation and results are testament.”
