Barking Colts under-10s reign supreme at EMH under-10s tournament
Barking Colts under-10s were crowned winners of the EMH under-10s tournament on Saturday after coming out on top in a penalty shoot-out.
In their five games leading up to the final, they won four, two by 3-0 and two by 1-0 scorelines, with both keepers Aden Oldrey and Glendit Ponari only conceding one apiece on the day.
That record meant they progressed to the final against Byron Red Star Eagles and in a tense and nailbiting encounter Barking got themselves in front through Tyler Simmons.
But heartbreak struck with 40 seconds to go when Byron scored to send the game to penalties.
And it took two rounds of penalties to decide the outcome, but Barking Colts came out on top to take the trophy.
