Godwin Primary School celebrated a hat-trick of titles as they won the Barking & Dagenham Schools’ Football Association (BDSFA) Girls’ League for the third successive season.

And it was the form of Chianna Belsham which helped them to the win as she scored another four goals to extend her season’s tally to a staggering 74 goals.

After victories over Marsh Green, Dorothy Barley, Hunters Hall, Henry Green, Valence and Grafton, St Joseph’s were the latest team to feel the force of the Finnymore Road-based school’s attacking prowess in a comprehensive 8-0 demolition.

Top scorer Belsham lashed in her 71st goal of the season after just two minutes and from then on the reigning champions never looked back.

Angela Omorere converted Belsham’s cross shortly after before Belsham blasted another to make it 3-0.

Louise Daly’s goalbound effort was then well saved, however, Marie Conteh was on hand to snaffle up the rebound from close range to stretch the lead just before half-time.

And when Belsham fired in two more just after the break, with Daly adding another poacher’s effort, the game was done and dusted.

There was still time though for skipper Lois Ford, stepping from defence into midfield, to net her 18th of the campaign to ensure her side’s 100 per cent record stayed in tact as Godwin finished five points clear of runners-up Valence.
