Chris Powell was delighted after his side beat Sporting Lisbon
Charlton manager Chris Powell hailed his side after they beat Sporting Clube de Portugal on Thursday evening.
Johnnie Jackson gave the Addicks the win with a last gasp header against the Portuguese giants in southern Spain.
“I’m extremely happy with the performance of both sets of players,” Powell told the club’s official site. “It was a really good experience for them all.
“Not many of them can say they have played against a top, top team from Portugal, which have been used to playing in Europe and used winning titles in their country.
“I think it was a really good performance. There was some good play and some determined play both in and out of possession, and to win it with a goal from Jacko our captain in the last minute was really pleasing.
“There are some terrific aspects to work on and we are really pleased with what was on show this evening.”
