Former Boreham Wood defender set to replace the suspended Sam Ling for visit from Heed

Ben Nunn is set to make his first start for Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday when they host Gateshead in the National League.

The summer arrival from Boreham Wood has had his early weeks with the Essex club hampered by a broken arm, though the right back has now fully recovered.

Sam Ling has impressed so far this season at right back, but will miss the clash with Heed through suspension, allowing Nunn to start.

Michael Cheek, meanwhile, should be fit to return to the starting XI after missing Monday’s draw at Maidstone United with a knee injury.

Should Cheek be sidelined again though, it could open for the door for either Mason Bloomfield or Joe White to start their first league game of the campaign.

Mark Cousins will remain in goal, with Craig Robson partnering Kevin Lokko in defence and Luke Pennell at left back.

Matt Robinson and Andre Boucaud will anchor the midfield, with Corey Whitely, Morgan Ferrier and Fejiri Okenabirhie operating in the space behind the striker.

Both Scott Doe and Dan Sparkes remain some way off from returning to first-team action.

Probable XI: Cousins; Nunn, Robson, Lokko, Pennell; Robinson, Boucaud; Whitely, Ferrier, Okenabirhie; Cheek.
