League Two: Dagenham & Redbridge v Gillingham, Saturday, August 25, kick-off 3pm

Midfielders Dominic Green, Kevin Maher and Matthew Saunders have been ruled out of Saturday’s visit of Gillingham with injury – but boss John Still is keen to emphasise all of the trio are on the road to recovery.

Green (hernia), Maher (foot) and Saunders (ankle) have all been unavailable so far this season as they continue to recover from respective injuries suffered last term.

But Still expects all three to be fit again within two weeks.

“None of them are drastic,” he said.

“Dominic has been out for a little while, but is back in training now. It will be another week.

“We need Dominic to get a little more fitness under his belt, so he may play 45-60 minutes in a reserve-team game this week.

“Kevin Maher has had the pin taken out of his foot and Matt Saunders will probably start training with the whole squad in the middle of this week.”

With a lack of natural wide options available Still is likely to continue with the midfield diamond he has deployed in the early matches of the season.

Gillingham will also look to pack the centre of the pitch with ex-Peterborough midfielder Charlie Lee, their playmaker.

Therefore the battle between Billy Bingham – anchoring the Daggers midfield – and Lee could be key to attaining a favourable result.

Under boss Martin Allen the Gills have hit the ground running with three wins in a row.

Danny Kedwell has scored three goals in as many games and will keep defenders Michael Spillane and Scott Doe busy.

But Daggers possess plenty of firepower of their own and Dwight Gayle could prove a real thorn in Gillingham’s side.
