Barking travel to face Sussex County League Division One side Lingfield today and manager Mick O’Shea is looking forward to the match and the whole trip with his new-look squad.

O’Shea will take Blues down to Surrey to face Lingfield at The Pavilion Recreation Ground and he is excited about the day out.

“It should be a good bonding session for the lads,” the Barking manager said.

“It will be good going down there and we are going to stay behind, not for a bite to eat but for a beer afterwards.

“That way we can relax for an hour or so and let the traffic die down and then we will come back.

“The lads are looking forward to it and a few haven’t been away with us yet, the new signings that is, so it should be good.”

It will be Barking’s fourth match in the space of a week as they played Ryman One North outfit Tilbury last weekend before entertaining other another two from the same league, in the shape Romford and Maldon & Tiptree during the week.

Blues drew 1-1 with Tilbury and achieved a 2-1 victory against Boro on Tuesday before losing 4-0 to Maldon on Thursday.

O’Shea will be looking for his side to bounce back from defeat today, he added: “We go to Lingfield and we’ll scratch this one off.

“We want to compete in every game. We want to win, compete, play good football, be physically hard and eloquent down the flanks and lets finish our dinner in front of goal as well.”

O’Shea will be hoping his forwards can ‘finish their dinners’ today and the Barking boss has discussed the options he has up front for the match against Lingfield.

The Blues’ boss added: “We have signed Peter Moores from Clapton and their top goalscorer Tom Jeffes, they should both be available.

“Chaz Liddiard has had his first games back for a while and he is getting use to the players around him.

“George Shelvey is getting back to fitness too, he scored a nice goal the other night against Romford.

“He needs to be a bit sharper as he knows by his own admission but he’ll go again against Lingfield.”
