Barking & Dagenham’s under-11 boys district squad got their season off to a winning start against Hackney at May & Baker.

They began well, showing some good passing and movement, but fell behind against the run of play to a well-taken Hackney goal.

The home side continued to apply pressure, though, and were back on level terms before half time when L Skam netted.

And they sealed a 2-1 win in the second half when an accurate corner from S Scott picked out J Bartim-Richards to head home.

A spokesman said: “Both teams worked hard and were a credit to their school district with the sportsmanship shown.”

Barking & Dagenham: Skam, Neosu, Bartrim-Richards, Nkrumah, Jones, Akinyimika, Nurse, Hart, Scott, Golambeckis, Hill, De Sa, Lenkevicius.
