Barking bounced back from their FA Cup disappointment to eventually run out comfortable winners at Mayesbrook Park.

Having lost their preliminary round replay to former rivals Haringey Borough in midweek, Blues looked to be suffering an FA Cup hangover as they fell behind as Gavin Cockman put Takeley ahead on 19 minutes.

Manager Mick O’Shea had spoken in midweek about his need for a hitman in attack, but the home side were back on terms almost immediately as Ben Turner converted a penalty and a quick start to the second half saw the hosts take the lead as Wale Odedoyin struck inside a minute of the restart.

O’Shea sent Eden Nelson on for Joe Killingback in the closing stages and the substitute made his mark with Barking’s third goal at the end of normal time.

Youngster Ryan Creed added some late gloss to the scoreline with a fourth goal in the second minute of stoppage time and Blues will look to maintain their winning form when they visit Hullbridge in the Essex Senior Cup on Tuesday.

Barking: Willis, Reynolds, Foster, Turner, Rix, O’Brien, Creed, Staunton, Odedoyin, Barlow, Killingback (Nelson 79). Unused subs: Mogege, Golby.
