Impressive team display sees talented youngsters pick up routine victory with Joe Martin scoring his first district goal

Barking & Dagenham under-11s comprehensively defeated Hackney 5-0 last weekend with an impressive team display.

Emis Gasperavicius, Kien Connolly, Joe Martin and Amin Karim were on target for the hosts while one of the visitors put through his own net.

Although the away side started brightly they failed to test Tyler Rice in the Barking & Dagenham goal.

The hosts soon settled and forced the Hackney custodian into several saves, before eventually taking the lead.

After piling the pressure on the away team for a lengthy spell, a Connolly free kick took a deflection and found the net.

Barking & Dagenham deserved their lead and Gasperavicius made it 2-0 soon after with a fine low drive into the corner.

Rice was tested out of the blue following the goal when Hackney’s Jake Smith was set up in space, but couldn’t beat the home goalkeeper.

And then on the stroke of half time, Harry Milburn combined with Karim and Martin to set up Connolly on the edge, and he smashed home the third.

Hackney started the second period strongly, but it didn’t take long for Barking & Dagenham to get on top.

The fourth goal for the hosts was a special moment for Martin as it was the first time he had got on the scoresheet for the district team.

Karim was fouled 20 yards out and Martin stepped up and fired into the top corner.

Barking & Dagenham took their foot off the gas following the fourth goal, but Hackney were unable to reduce the arrears despite some sustained pressure.

Gasperavicius and Connolly hit back and tried to produce the fifth for the district team – they were thwarted, though eventually the hosts made it 5-0.

Milburn’s free kick looked set to find the back of the net anyway, but Karim showed his goalscoring prowess by getting a deft touch on the set-piece and in the process claiming the fifth.

Karim would have been disappointed not to add to his tally just before full time when he was played through on goal.

Hackney’s goalkeeper denied him initially, but the rebound fell kindly for the Barking & Dagenham player and yet Karim blasted the second effort over and the district team had to settle for a 5-0 victory.

Barking & Dagenham: Dean (Dorothy Barley), Rice (Southwood), Onajobi (Becontree), Karim (Parsloes), Gasperavicius (William Bellamy), Milburn (Five Elms), Connolly, Rich, Martin (all Valence), Fawunmi (Hunters Hall).
