Daggers ace believe they can kick start their season with victory at Kenilworth Road tonight

Billy Bingham is expected to be handed another starting opportunity tonight by Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett and the midfielder believes he is slowing getting back to full fitness.

The 24-year-old made his first appearance of the season earlier this month against Leyton Orient and has been introduced from the substitutes bench in Daggers last two league games against Accrington Stanley and Newport County.

With captain Abu Ogogo suspended, following his weekend dismissal, and Luke Howell and Joss Labadie ruled out through injury, Bingham has a chance against Luton Town this evening to secure a starting role in Burnett’s team.

And the experienced midfielder is hoping to help the Victoria Road outfit kick start their season tonight.

“It could be (an opportunity), I don’t know what the gaffer is going to do, so we will see,” said Bingham when asked about his chances of starting against Luton.

“If I am (starting) then I know I will try my best and work my hardest to be my best and see how it goes.

“Hopefully we can get a win and kick start our season.”

Bingham believes he is getting back to full fitness after an slow start to the campaign through injury.

He was pleased to play 45 minutes on Saturday against County and is relishing the prospect of playing in front of a big crowd at Kenilworth Road.

“It is nice to get some more minutes under my belt,” said the 24-year-old.

“It is different to reserve games because you feel it within the first 20 but you have to dig deep. The fitness is getting there.

“There will be a few fans there so it will be a good atmosphere, that’s what everyone wants to play under.

“A big crowd makes the game a bit better, plus a night time kick off will be good.

“We have just got to keep going because the results will turn and hopefully it is against Luton.”
