Daggers midfielder competing for Trinidad & Tobago in Caribbean Cup Finals

Dagenham & Redbridge midfielder Andre Boucaud described his latest game with Trinidad & Tobago as one of his toughest.

But the Soca Warriors weren’t playing one of the giants of international football, they faced Curacao in their first Caribbean Cup Finals group match.

The 30-year-old played the full 90 minutes after flying out from England on Sunday and was able to help his country achieve a 3-2 victory.

And when he spoke to the Trinidad & Tobago Guardian after the game, he admitted it was one of the toughest encounters he has been involved in.

“This was definitely one of the hardest games I’ve played in a competition for T&T,” said Boucaud.

“We’ve had some really big games but this one was tough. Curacao just kept coming at us but we did well to hold them off.

“We had a good start even though we conceded first and should have put away a few chances.

“But once they got levelled, they just got new life and made it really difficult for us.”

Despite the tough opening challenge, the Daggers midfielder hopes Trinidad can build on this victory in their next two group games against French Guiana and Cuba.

He concluded: “It’s good because we showed good character and I think now we can settle down and play some good football in the remaining games.”
