Burnett has game plan for Exeter

Daggers team news ahead of Grecians visit

Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett wants his side to take the game to Exeter this evening and does have a game plan to try and combat the way the Grecians play.

Paul Tisdale’s team visit Victoria Road in great form, having won their last three matches, and the Daggers boss is expecting a tough battle.

However, he wants his team to take the initiative this evening and apart from long-term absentees Zavon Hines and Rhys Murphy, he will have a fully fit squad to choose from.

Burnett said: “I think they are unbeaten in four and have won their last three games so they have got some momentum.

“They will be coming with high spirits but we are playing ok. We don’t need to panic too much, we are the home team and we have to take the initiative.

“We have got an idea how Exeter are set up and we have got a game plan in place for that but it is about us.

“It is about us being on the front foot and hopefully taking the game to them.”

Burnett hopes that more fans will be in attendance tonight, due to the fact it is a Friday night fixture, but admitted winning more home games will boost the attendance more than anything.

He also discussed the fitness of his squad and the healthy competition for places he currently has.

“It would be good if we can get a few more through the turnstiles,” said Burnett.

“That is always a good sign but winning might help a little bit as well!

“Competition is healthy and that is what we want, we want people busting a gut to want to be in the team.

“The only two injuries at the moment are Zavon Hines and Rhys Murphy. Rhys is progressing quite nicely, we hope he can start training properly next week.

“But he has been out for a long time and we have to make sure he is alright.”
