New Daggers loan forward eager to show what he can do and targets another win
Daniel Carr is hoping Wayne Burnett gives him another opportunity to impress ahead of Portsmouth’s visit to Victoria Road this evening.
Dagenham & Redbridge celebrated three points at York City last weekend after Jamie Cureton scored once in each half at Bootham Crescent.
Carr was also introduced in 82nd minute for his debut and was hoping for another chance against Pompey tonight.
The 21-year-old joined on loan from Championship side Huddersfield Town last week and is keen to impress at Daggers.
“I am pleased to make my debut in a good team win and hopefully we can make it three wins on the bounce,” said Carr.
“The gaffer has been good with me since I have been here and gave me an opportunity against York and hopefully I get another one against Portsmouth.
“Every time I am on the pitch, whether it is a start or as a sub, I am looking to improve on my last performance.
“I follow League Two quite a bit and Portsmouth won 1-0 against Hartlepool on Saturday, but it doesn’t matter who we play we want to get three points so we are looking to do that again.”
Carr believes Daggers are involved in a ‘mini-table’ at the bottom of League Two as they look to push further away from the relegation places.
The forward is surprised Burnett’s side have been fighting to stay out of the bottom two this season, adding: “I don’t understand how we are down there because we can play some good football and we have some good players.
“It is a bit of a mini-table down the bottom so it is important you come out on top against the teams around us (like Portsmouth).
“We want to really build momentum towards the end of the season because there is quality in the team and I think we should be further up the table, but no doubt we will be come the end of the season.”
