Left-back happy to be back after recent spell out of the team

Jack Connors was pleased Dagenham & Redbridge kept another clean sheet at the weekend, but disappointed they couldn’t get all three points against Oxford United.

Daggers and the U’s couldn’t be separated at Victoria Road and the left-back admitted he couldn’t remember too many chances in the game.

The 20-year-old was pleased from a personal point of view to get another start and contribute towards Wayne Burnett’s side extending their unbeaten run to three matches.

“It is good to keep another clean sheet, that is three in a row now,” said Connors.

“We need to build on that. It is disappointing not to get three points at home, but we will take a point.

“I am happy to be back in the team. It is three games and three clean sheets so for me personally, I couldn’t have asked for much more.

“First half was a bit difficult because of the wind, it played a little bit of a factor on us.

“We didn’t really create many chances. I don’t think their keeper had to make many saves, which is disappointing being at home. I think Mark made one save, but that is all I can remember.”

Connors has started Daggers last three matches since Burnett recalled him to the starting team against Southend United.

Prior to that appearance, the youngster hadn’t featured for the first team since the 1-0 defeat to Newport County on October 18.

He admitted it was frustrating being out of the team, but revealed the Daggers boss was constantly telling him what he needed to do to get back in the side.

Connors added: “I had to be patient, but it was frustrating at the same time.

“Sometimes results weren’t going for us and you can’t affect it. It was frustrating, but I just had to deal with it.

“The manager was telling me what I needed to do to get back into the team so I was trying to work towards that in training and now I am back in hopefully I can stay there.”

Connors return has definitely helped the Daggers defence and the youngster certainly deserves his current run in the team.
