Daggers keeper wants to build on last weekend’s draw
Mark Cousins is looking for Daggers to start 2015 in style by achieving a victory at home to Bury.
Wayne Burnett’s team haven’t won in the league since defeating the Shakers 2-0 at the end of November – a run of four matches.
But that two-goal success at Gigg Lane will give them the confidence to achieve a similar result at Victoria Road tomorrow (Saturday).
“It is in our hands, but we have to start winning games at home,” admitted Cousins.
“It is a quick turnaround because we only played Bury at the end of November.
“They are a team in some indifferent form of late, like us really, but it is a winnable game.”
Bury’s form has been up and down since the start of November, though they did end the year with two successive victories against Northampton Town and Mansfield.
That places David Flitcroft’s side eighth in the League Two standings ahead of their match with Daggers, who dropped into the relegation zone following Sunday’s goalless draw with Southend United.
But Cousins was hopeful that Burnett’s team could build on the point they earned against the Roots Hall outfit, another team chasing a play-off position.
He added: “When it comes to sides in the top seven, away from home, you have got to be looking to get a point.
“A win would have been a massive bonus for us for us against Southend, but we can build on the draw. It is a clean sheet and we go back to Bury now.”
