Dagenham & Redbridge number two explains what he can bring to club and discusses players

New Dagenham & Redbridge assistant manager Ian Culverhouse says his previous experience of working with boss John Still will help fire the team up League Two.

Culverhouse, who previously worked as Paul Lambert’s number two at both Norwich City and Aston Villa in the Premier League, was confirmed as Daggers new assistant last week.

The 51-year-old also previously worked as a youth coach at Barnet while Still was manager of the Bees and is looking forward to linking up with him again at Dagenham.

“Hopefully I can add a bit to the team. I’ve worked with John before, so I know how he works,” said Culverhouse.

“John’s probably the best man for this football club. I will bounce off of him, and whatever he asks of me and wants me to do, I’ll do. Whatever I can bring to him, I’ll bring to him.”

Culverhouse is the first new face Still has added to his backroom staff at Victoria Road having opted to keep on coaches Darren Currie and Jim Stannard.

So far, Warren Hackett is the only member of the coaching staff from Wayne Burnett’s time in charge to have left the club with his departure announced on the same day as Culverhouse’s arrival.

That means Culverhouse is the only true new face at Daggers, with Still having returned for a third stint as manager, but believes they have the quality to move away from the relegation zone.

“We are where we are in the league and that’s the disappointing thing of it. What I’ve seen in the week I’ve been here is the attitude and desire the players have daily,” he added.

“That will lead to better things out on the football pitch and John will make sure we’re organised.”
