The 39-year-old is pipped by Pompey youngster

Dagenham & Redbridge forward Jamie Cureton has failed to win Sky Bet’s League Two player of the month award for February as Portsmouth’s Jed Wallace has been given the accolade.

The Pompey youngster netted twice in the month and inspired his team to remain unbeaten during February, where they held Daggers to a stalemate at Victoria Road.

Cureton netted four times in five matches for Wayne Burnett’s side and helped them obtain seven points from a possible 15.

The 39-year-old’s displays were excellent throughout February and he can count himself a little unlucky to miss out on the award.

Wallace revealed he was delighted to beat Cureton and the other “good” players nominated for the award – Plymouth Argyle’s Lewis Alessandra and Burton Albion’s Phil Edwards.

“It’s nice to be recognised individually and for the team to do well throughout the month was a double bonus,” he told portsmouthfc.co.uk.

“There were some really good players nominated for the award and luckily I’ve been able to pip them.”
