Daggers fan Daniel Law is writing a blog during the 2015-16 season

Despite having to go to a replay on the south coast to face semi-pro side Whitehawk, Dagenham are off to Goodison Park in the New Year to face Premier League club Everton in the FA Cup third round!

Before the drama of the FA Cup however, Daggers once again failed to win a league game after former striker Rhys Murphy scored two goals to edge a 3-2 victory for the Reds.

Once again the away failed started off very slowly and only seemed to wake up after the half time interval.

Dagenham did however look the brighter of the two sides after half time as Jamie Cureton hit the crossbar from a couple of yards out in a chance that looked harder to miss than score.

However, Wayne Burnett’s did get back into the game in the 64th minute when half time substitutes Christian Doidge scored from close range to give the away team some hope of a comeback.

But it was not meant to be for Dagenham as Rhys Murphy doubled his tally for the day with a long range strike past the trailing Mark Cousins at his near post to seal yet another defeat for Daggers.

Moving on to Wednesday night, and with Dagenham’s FA Cup game behind shown live in the UK on BT Sport it would be pretty embarrassing if a bunch of professionals were to be knocked out by a team of semi-pros.

Saying that Whitehawk would probably have come out of the tie feeling they had done everything they could in a game where Dagenham struggled in large portions of the match and were fortunate that keeper Mark Cousins was on hand to stop the hosts from putting more than two into the visitors’ net.

Dagenham’s game on Saturday sees them host Bristol Rovers who are back in the Football League following their one season stint in the Conference last season. The Gas currently sit just outside the play offs in eighth position with 33 points, 20 points clear and 14 places above Daggers who are one point above the dreaded drop zone.

Whilst the game against Everton will give the club some much needed financial assistance, the team still need to find that elusive first home win of the season so to avoid relegation to the National League.

Come on you Daggers!
