Negative chants filled the ground as the final whistle sounded as Dagenham & Redbridge fell to a 3-1 defeat to National League strugglers Solihull Moors on the weekend.

Daggers have now only won one of their last eight league matches and fell to a third consecutive loss as Moors new signing Adi Yussuf netted a brace in the opening 15 minutes.

England C international Fejiri Okenabirhie clawed one back in the 39th minute, but his stunning goal counted for nothing as Oladapo Afolayan made it 3-1 in the 70th minute and helped the visitors seal the three points at Victoria Road.

Manager John Still left the pitch to abuse from the fans, as they chanted words such as embarrassing and was calling for his head, while also giving the team some abuse.

“Absolutely I get it, but people have to remember I’m also a supporter of this club and we’ve not played well,” Still said.

“I always say this to fans look at where the club were we got relegated, it happens, we bounced back fantastically last year and give everyone a good season, we were just a bit unlucky against the eventual winners in Forest Green.

“We’ve had a good run this year, we’re having a little bit of a disappointing time at the moment, but it’s football.”

The former Luton Town boss Still believes his squad needs support not criticism at this point in time to dig them out the rut they’re currently in.

“Supporters support their team, critics criticise their team, time to criticise is not now,” he said.

“It doesn’t bother me in particular and it isn’t anything that concerns me as I know how hard I work and I know how hard the people work.

“It’s always disappointing, but you know what, supporters are supporters and that’s what they do.”

He also believes it happens at every football club and the fans can soon change their tune within a matter of weeks.

“All over the country, wherever you are, whoever you are, wherever you go it happens,” Still said.

“I went to a Bristol City match a fair while ago and there were banners out for the manager to get sacked and they’ve now played against Manchester City and Manchester United now and think he’s wonderful, that’s football.”
